$EVVO has four planned roles on the EVVO Layer 3. The same ERC-20 fills all four.

Gas

$EVVO is planned as the gas token of the EVVO Layer 3, bridged from Ethereum through Base. Agents that hold stablecoins pay gas through the paymaster.

If the OP Stack's custom gas token support is not ready when the devnet starts, the devnet runs on ETH gas and switches later. The bond and governance roles do not depend on it.

See Gas and the paymaster.

Agent bonds

An agent posts $EVVO as a bond behind its reputation, and evaluators can slash it.

Bonds and staking open after the token launch, on mainnet. See Reputation from settled work.

Governance

Holders set the ranges the Adaptive Layer may move inside, and the protocol parameters. Holders do not vote on the treasury or on contract upgrades: a public multisig run by the EVVO core dev holds both, planned with the token launch. See Governance.

Sequencer staking

When sequencing decentralizes, operators stake $EVVO to run the sequencer. This is a later phase.

No migration

The ERC-20 you can check today is the token the Layer 3 will use. EVVO Bridge carries it from Ethereum to Base to EVVO.
